Contemporary
Contemporary was a dutch band active from circa 1972 until late 1977. Besides Henri Grünbauer on Guitar the group consisted of Stefan Kruijswijk on Organ and Drums as well as Otto Grünbauer on Piano, Organ and Drums. Very little is known about this band. Bounty Records inherited the existing tapes sometime during 1999 and therefore they should be in the vaults somewhere. However we at Nutking Records did have a lot of effort to relocated them. Luckily Bounty Records had released some 'Contemporary' video's sometime ago. It now appears that most of these Video's are not genuine recordings by Contemporary as a Group. It has been stated that Otto Grunbauer was their main composer, and the tunes "Stug' and 'Kartelschaar' were identified as written by him. The Video's soundtracks, however are now identified as recorded by Feedback, the '70s Hard-Rock outfit Stefan and Henri are associated with. It is common knowledge Stefan and Henri started this band after Otto left Contemporary in about 1976. Another 'Contemporary' video is known as "Otto's Blues'. This appears to be from a much later recording date, circa 1985 and could be recorded during a break in one of the gigs of a Jazz-project Henri and Otto were involved in called 'Winterkwintet'. Besides de recent 'Contemporary-Medley', recorded by Henri to revisit and thus to rerecord the original repertoire, we were then left with only one genuine 'Contemporary' recording with Stefan, Otto and Henri as a band: Boogie-c. That is to say: Until now! NUTKING RECORDS HAS RELEASED CONTEMPORARY'S 1976 "SKUNK ALIVE" IN IT'S ENTIRETY ON THIS VERY PAGE!
