Saint Vitus on Stage was the Swan-song from the Saint Vitus II formation. For many the release of the album was a sad event because although not officially announced yet, it was clear to everyone, the band had broken up. Therefore, the interest in the album was minimal and in retrospect, it wasn't their best album. Never the less it has its' moments and for one thing it contained four new songs of which no studio versions do exist. The album was put together from two concerts: februari 4 1984 at 'De Boemerang' Baarn, The Netherlands and februari 27 1984 at 'Tejater Kikker' Utrecht, The Netherlands. On the reissue a 1987 live cover from 'Lady Madonna was added as a bonus-track. The remaining material from the concerts was released as alternate takes on "The Final Tapes' album
